What is turmeric good for?

Turmeric, also known as curcuma, is a spice deeply rooted in Ayurveda. Its intense yellow-orange color and characteristic taste make it a well-known ingredient in the kitchen. The active compounds in turmeric are called curcuminoids, of which curcumin is the most studied.

Turmeric in Ayurveda

Within the Ayurvedic tradition, turmeric (Haridra in Sanskrit) has been valued for thousands of years. It is considered a herb with warming and drying properties. It is traditionally used in daily routines focused on inner balance and forms an integral part of a holistic lifestyle.

Product forms in the daily routine

Curcumin is the primary active component in turmeric. Because the concentration of curcumin in the raw root is naturally low, Ayurvedic supplements often use standardized extracts to provide a constant and precise amount of this substance.

Use of turmeric powder

Ground turmeric powder is versatile in the kitchen. You can easily add it to curries, lentil soups, and plant-based smoothies. A well-known traditional application is making 'Golden Milk,' a warm drink based on a plant-based milk alternative (such as oat or almond drink) combined with turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, and spices such as cinnamon and ginger.

Composition of capsules

For consistent intake, capsules are a practical option. Many modern supplements, including our curcumin capsules, actually combine the turmeric extract with a black pepper extract (piperine) to align with the classical tradition in which these spices are used together.

Usage and precautions

Turmeric is widely used as a spice in food. Different quantities and conditions of use apply to concentrated supplements; therefore, always strictly follow the usage advice on the product packaging.

Important safety warning: Dietary supplements should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. In the case of impaired liver function, bile duct disorders, or when simultaneously taking specific medications (particularly blood thinners), always consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
